2015 taranis plus X9D and D8RXP recievers

I am out of my depth here.
Ok here goes:
I have a 2015 taranis plus x9d
firmware on radio and card 2.3v0039
I have not updated the firmware on the rx's of which I have 3, 2 X D8RXP & 1 X V8FRII
I can change the channel number using mode XJT D16 but not when set on XJT D8
Can't bind receivers on mode XJT D16 but can on XJT D8
all models I turn on in D8 mode are active at the same time.
In D16 mode I can edit rx#. In D8 mode rx# not displayed and can't edit of course.
Nothing works in D16
How do I fix this? I am concerned about taking my radio anywhere near a field for fear I will compromise a frequency!

The D8 receivers are very old at this point. FrSky no longer makes them. But what you are seeing is 100% correct and what they are designed to do.

When Frsky came out with your radio they also introduced the D16 mode, this uses the ACCST protocol. One of the new features that ACCST allows is to use the model RX#. This locks the receiver to that model memory. A great safety feature.

You are not using D16 receivers, so they can only talk in D8 mode, this means no RX#. But do not worry, your receivers are still tied only to your transmitter, but they do not care what model memory you are using. You need to be sure to turn off an airplane before switching model memories. This is how things used to be.

Even ACCST (D16) is old these days, about 10 years old, and FrSky has come out with even newer protocols with even more features. These are ACCESS, TANDEM and just rolling out now is TWIN.

Don't worry, you can still get ACCST (D16) receivers, and it is a good reliable system. If you buy your receivers from Aloft, then we will install Uni-RX onto them, this is a vastly updated version of ACCST. (Not currently available for all of the ACCST receivers.. but getting closer. In beta testing now.)

Hope this helps.
